FAQs for Muslim Students

IES is proud to continue a growing tradition of welcoming Muslim and Arabic students as part of our international student community.

Each year, approximately 15 - 20% of Foundation Year students are Muslim, from many different countries. The staff at IES are educated about the needs of Muslim and Arabic students. Facilities and services have been specifically designed to ensure students continue their religious practices while living and studying in Brisbane.

Services and facilities

  • Dedicated prayer rooms for male and female students on-campus and at UQ.
  • Organised prayer sessions including Friday afternoons.
  • Mosques conveniently located close to IES campus.
  • Separate male and female student accommodation options.
  • Halal food served at all IES student functions.
  • Students are encouraged to observe national customs and traditional dress.
