IES is delighted to congratulate Ms Zitong Mavis Huang for winning an award in the Queensland-China Education and Training Awards program for Excellence, announced at the Shanghai World Expo 2010 event by Minister for Primary Industries, Fisheries and Rural and Regional Queensland Tim Mulherin. Managed by Queensland Education and Training International (QETI), this one-off Awards program acknowledges the achievements of Chinese students and alumni, and showcases Queensland’s significant and successful education partnerships with China, who excel in five unique categories.
IES nominated Mavis for the Student of the Year (VET category) Award. Ms Huang has recently finished her final examinations and is looking forward to commencing her undergraduate Engineering program at The University of Queensland in July 2010. She has been an active member of the IES Student Council, contributing to a range of social and recreational activities and achieved excellent academic results throughout the program. She has been a fine ambassador for her country during her time at IES and we wish her every success in the future.
The Director of IES, Mr Chris Evason, was in Shangahi with Mavis and her parents (pictured below)at the award ceremony. She is seen in the photo accepting the award from the Minister at a special function in the Australian pavilion at the World Expo.
